Semen Gresik Together with Farmers Around the Company Harvesting Longan fruit, to be able to earn dozens of millions of Rupiah

Rembang, July 15th 2024 - PT Semen Gresik Rembang Factory, a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), harvested petlong fruit with farmers around the company in the horticultural garden of Rembang Factory, Central Java.

Senior Manager of Communication and CSR of PT Semen Gresik, Sulistyono, said that the horticultural garden is located on the Borrowed Use Permit of Forest Area (IPPKH) of Semen Gresik Rembang Factory operational area. In this four-hectare garden, there are hundreds of durians, crystal guava, longan, and jumbo sugar apple trees.

“Every harvest carried out by farmers per month, managed to produce 163 kg of good and fresh longan fruit,” said Sulistyono in his release statement (15/7).

He continued, the harvest activity is the company's commitment to improve the quality of life, welfare, and social economy of farmers in the community development area around the company. As well as the implementation of the green industry concept, in accordance with Law No. 3 of 2014.

“Horticulture cultivation can provide significant economic value for farmers. It was recorded that the sale of longan fruit was able to reach a total transaction of Rp 19.6 million. So, we can enjoy the harvest and be utilized by hundreds of farmers as clear evidence that even factory area land can be productive,” he explained.

Sulistyono added that the horticulture plantation can become a fruit center that produces high economic value for the surrounding community. “This CSR program is able to provide knowledge transfer and penetration of agricultural technology, the company emphasizes that it wants to coexist and grow with the community by providing the best benefits and contributions,” he said.

Meanwhile, the head of the Mitra Tani group, Sukardi, said that he was greatly helped by the horticultural garden, “previously only understood planting corn, now we can produce longan, which was unexpectedly fertile in Rembang Regency,” he concluded.
